NEW YORK, Aug. 7, 2015 — A summer week in TV that would normally be sleepy was enlivened by a single night — Thursday — when 10 Republican presidential candidates faced off in a prime-time debate on Fox News Channel and Jon Stewart signed off as host of “The Daily Show” on Comedy Central after nearly 16 years.
